Bassanio holds a BSCE from MIT and is a technology executive with more than three decades of experience leading R&D teams in global Fortune 100 companies. As a former Senior Director of Engineering at Cisco Systems, he helped build secure networking and collaboration technologies used worldwide.
After years of working with large enterprises, Bassanio recognized a growing problem: small and mid-sized defense contractors were being overwhelmed by cybersecurity requirements that were written for corporations with dozens of IT staff. Most guidance was confusing, most tools were overpriced, and “checklist compliance” often failed to deliver real security.
He founded CMMC.ICU to change that—by combining enterprise-grade security principles with practical, affordable solutions designed specifically for small businesses. Today, he focuses on helping DoD contractors implement NIST SP 800-171 and prepare for CMMC Level 2 using streamlined cloud architectures that make sense for lean teams.
